THERAPY FOR ANXIOUS MILLENNIALS

Anxiety affects the best of us. Many of us regularly try to get everything done constantly working against the clock between taking care of family, being social, going to work and trying to exceed unrealistic expectations that we set for ourselves. It’s exhausting to overthink every decision, doubt the next step, second guess what’s next but we do it anyway in the name of perfectionism.

Do you struggle with anxiety, physical symptoms, social anxiety or panic attacks?

Anxiety often involves striving to find the perfect solution for every problem. Even when outcomes are already decided or beyond our control, we fixate on what could have been or how to avoid mistakes in the future. Despite our efforts to analyze every challenge, decision, or interaction, the anxiety persists.

When we're anxious, staying present and connecting with others can be difficult. Social anxiety, particularly challenging for women, can make everyday situations feel embarrassing and uncomfortable.

Anxiety isn't solely a mental issue—it frequently manifests as physical symptoms, including digestive problems, headaches, and fatigue. Constant sweating, heart palpitations, or feelings of impending doom may indicate a panic disorder.

Fortunately, anxiety is treatable. Working with a therapist can help you uncover the root causes of your anxiety and develop the tools needed to manage it. With patience, persistence, and practice, you can begin to think and feel differently.

Unsure If Therapy For Anxiety Can Help You?

Anxiety feels like it's a part of who I am. Can therapy really make a difference?

Absolutely, change is not just possible, it's achievable. While anxiety might seem like an ingrained part of your personality, therapy offers a way to modify how you interact with your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By understanding your specific anxiety patterns, I will guide you in developing personalized coping strategies and new approaches to challenges, effectively altering your relationship with anxiety.

I prefer not to dwell on the past. Can we focus on my current issues in therapy?

Yes! Therapy can be very much focused on current challenges and future goals. Although a brief exploration of your history helps in understanding the roots of your anxiety, it's not the sole focus. We'll spend the out time together gaining insight into how past experiences influence your present, and from there, we can concentrate predominantly on managing current stressors and planning for future goals.

Do I have to do 'homework' between therapy sessions?

No worries, we can keep 'homework' to a minimum! If we decide on any activities between sessions, they will be practical and directly related to real-life situations you're facing. For example, if you're anxious about an issue in your relationship, we might plan a specific, actionable strategy for addressing it effectively with your partner. These practical exercises are designed to enhance your skills in real-world settings, helping to reduce your anxiety more broadly and potentially shorten the duration of therapy.
